I agree about the complex issues -- but they may be better presented in ways that kids can understand or relate to nowadays. Not everything has to be hip-hopped up, but there is something to be said for making things relevant.

Haha, thanks for directing me to this! I agree with just about all of what you said, with the exception of Dostoyevsky. There are so many complex moral and character based issues in his work that it is worth poring through. But perhaps NOT for the average high school student :-)
