The Best Superhero (Reader Nomination!)

The controversy will not end, at least not until all the superheroes in the world get together and have a massive fight and determine, just once and for all, who is truly The Best Superhero. And imagine the Pay-Per-View revenues for that! (I call dibs!)

Reader Matt weighs in on the neverending debate about who, really, is The Best Superhero, with these sage words:

Thor is the best. he has a great background story and he can't be beat, because he is as skilled in hand to hand combat as Batman or Cap, as strong as Hulk, powerful as Silver Surfer and with the magic of Dr. Strange and has the mystery and fantasy that every real comic fan desires in a good story. His level of power increases and decreases by the writer but nevertheless no matter who writes him, it’s hard to beat him because he is the ultimate weapon and the strongest of the Gods besides Odin.

That is a compelling argument. Matt makes some good points, and he didn't even have to mention Mjolnir, which is good, because if he had mentioned Mjolnir (Thor's mystic hammer) he'd have had to also mention that Thor "flies" by throwing his hammer and then catching onto the handle and following along for a ride, which means, technically, that Thor cannot turn while flying.

On the other hand, Thor did fight one of the most awesome super villains ever, Mangog. And supervillains is a category that's gone largely unnominated here...

Well, let's get going, readers! More Best Superheroes? Or Some Best Supervillains?

Or, do something productive with our lives. Anyone for that last one? Seeing no hands, let's forget I ever mentioned it.

Thanks for nominating, Matt, and for your love of Norse gods, I'll give you a free t-shirt of your choice from my collection, or, if you're the nerdy/reading type, a free book of your choice from my collection of those. Get in touch with me and let me know which one you want.

Here's all the other superheroes nominated as Bests:

Batman.

Dr. Manhattan

The Hulk.

The Hulk, Juggernaut, Doomsday, Thor, Superman, Yoda.

Spider-Man. (That one was mine!)

Captain Carrot
(Me, again!)

Batman, again.

And just for good measure, here's the only nomination for best supervillain ever:

"Carnage."
