Update on Mateo and McHale Shaw -- the Wonder Twins!

Saturday, May 10 was Mateo and McHale Shaw's 2nd birthday. These two boys:

were given just a 5% chance of survival when they were born. Two years later, they're still going strong. Here's an update from their parents' journal:

Wow...where has the time gone. It seems like it was just yesterday we were in D.C preparing for the boys birth. All of our families flew in and I was checked into the hospital being monitored throughout the night in prepatation for the big day. We were excited and scared at the same time not knowing if the boys would make it. One of the greatest feelings was when the boys were born and were both crying. It was tough not being able to hold them for several weeks, but we cherished the first time we were able to. We were fortunate to have such caring people around us at both hospitals and the best of the best working on the boys. There was no certainty how the boys would do but we knew in our hearts we made the right decision to go to D.C for the doctors and no matter what the outcome we would never regret trying to get our sons the best care...and we would always know we gave them the best chance possible.
There are some tough times they went through that we wil never forget how sick they were and how terrified we were. By God's grace they are here and are happy and healthy little boys. We want them to have every opportunity to just be kids and enjoy life.
