The Best Superhero, New Nominee!

From reader Riley C. comes a new nomination for The Best Superhero. Riley and I see eye to eye on the lame-osity of Batman, but he takes me to task for my hero-worship (I couldn't resist) of Spiderman:

I agree with you about your blog about Batman but Spider-Man definitely is not the best superhero. Sure, he is cool, but his power is pretty lame. He can shoot many different kind of web and most of his battles are won by luck. I know he can beat the Fantastic Four but he needs lots of web improvement.

Riley then goes on to make his case for who The Best Superhero is:

But the one person Spider-Man could never in a million years defeat is Dr. Manhattan from The Watchmen. He has so much power, it's not funny. He can survive in water and in space. He is smart, he can see in the future and the past, teleport people wherever he wants, can shrink, [and can] kill someone by pointing at them. Even if Spider-Man somehow killed him, he regenerates. He can alter molecules so he could turn invisible. He can also create life. So I definitely think Dr. Manhattan is the Best Superhero.

Riley, you make a compelling case. I find it very hard to argue with any of the points you make. I don't know how Spider-Man could stand up to a hero who can do all of that -- even Spidey's luck might run out. (Especially when he's let himself go so much, as you can see >>>>)

So thanks for reading, and for nominating Dr. Manhattan as The Best Superhero.
